There is a verse in "Refutation of Objections" that says well: "If the roots of the grass are not uprooted, even though they are broken, they will regenerate, and the love will not be removed, and the suffering will continue." It reminds us that if a person’s troubles and habits are not rooted Removal will leave endless troubles.
Just like weeding, you have to remove the roots to prevent "spring breeze blowing and regenerating"; washing dishes and clothes must be cleaned, otherwise it may cause physical discomfort. The same goes for our troubles and habits, we must work hard to get rid of them, so as not to breed more troubles of learning.
In the past, there was a rich man who loved money and was greedy for money. After he made money, he refused to do good deeds. He just tried to accumulate savings. He gathered a lot of money to avoid being stolen, so he bought gold; Afraid of being stolen, he also engraved his name on it, and then hid it in a cave in the back of the house.
This person doesn't know how to use money. He accumulated so much money and died before he got any benefits. Because he was greedy and foolish during his lifetime, he fell into the animal realm after death and became a python. This python guards the hole where the gold is hidden every day.
One day, a hunter found that the python was waiting tightly at the entrance of the cave and never left an inch. So the hunter asked several villagers to work together to catch the python and kill it. They guessed that there must be some treasure in the cave where the pythons were waiting, so they went in to dig and found that the cave was full of gold.
This rich man had a lot of wealth during his lifetime but was persistent. Even though he was reborn as a snake, he did not get rid of greed. He was still driven by greed. It is very sad. He is rich but has no wisdom. He cannot use money well. bitter. These causes of our troubles and suffering have not been eliminated at all. How can we get happiness?
Therefore, habit is the root of our troubles, and love is also the root of our troubles. When people have habit, it is not easy to change. With the attachment to love, they will care about and cling to everything; when they are attached to love, they cannot get When giving back, hatred arises, and people's greed, anger and suffering will rotate in this way, and the fundamentals of life and death will continue forever. Therefore, it is said that "love is not eliminated, and suffering continues."
This verse inspires us to be aware of our own minds at all times, and not to let bad habits, greed and attachments fall deeper and deeper; only if we can remove them in real time, it is possible to cut off the root of our troubles and move towards liberation.
